Kinkuna National Park
One day home from Landcruiser Mountain Park and we are already packing again. The boys don't have to work so we decide to go to Kinkuna National Park to visit our friends Ron and Eve and their four girls, who have been camping there since Saturday. Kinkuna is one of our favorite spots. It is only 1,5 hours from home, large camping spots in the shade with views on the beach... and all this for free!
We left Wednesday at 11 am. At 11.45 am we stopped in Childers to have our lunch. Then we continued. Just before we could go on the beach, the Patrol got stuck in the sand. Stephen had tried to do it without dropping the tire pressure which obviously was no good idea. We had to pull out the winch to get us out. After lowering the pressure, we continued on the beach but got stuck there again. We never had the sand being this bad before! Luckily another driver stopped to help us, as the tide was getting in, we were very thankful for his help.
A bit later we arrived at the campsite with no further problems. We set up camp and the boys rushed to the water, where they stayed until we called them for dinner. But straight after dinner they went back to the water. They stayed there until bedtime; we sat around a campfire until bedtime.
The next morning we relaxed a bit and then it was time to pack again and leave. On the way back we stopped at Mammino's and enjoyed a delicious ice cream.

Landcruiser Mountain Park
This year we decided to spent the end of the year and the beginning of 2012 away from home, together with our friends Nathan and Patty (and their dog Roxy) and Kane and Jodie with their little girl Ava (and their dog Sheila). We - on the other hand - were not complete for this celebration. For the very first time we had to start the new year without Jasper and Tom as both boys were working during the weekend.
We left on Saturday to Landcruiser Mountain Park. We found a beautiful spot to set up our camps. At night we had a little party to celebrate the end of 2011.
The next day we got up at 7 am. It was a very early morning as we only made it to bed at 2.30 am. After a good breakfast we went for a drive. We went down a hill and got stuck halfway. After a bit of worrying and trying we finally got away without damage. Pfew!
We had lunch at the camp site and then went for another drive. We did some interesting and challenging roads. Around 4.30 pm we were back at the camp site and started the camp fire and Nathan and Patty cooked dinner. We sat around the camp fire and enjoyed being there.
The next morning was 'going home day' but we decided to make the most of it. After breakfast we went for another drive till lunch time. After lunch we packed up and left the park. We will definitely come back here one day as it was heaps of fun and there are that many more tracks to discover. We arrived back home around 5.30 pm and were glad to see our boys back.

Wongi State Forest
It's a beautiful day but too windy to take the boat out. So we decide to go to Wongi State Forest. First we drive to have a look at Lenthal's Dam. Good to see the water is flowing. We have our pick nick here before we travel further to the lakes. We install our chairs while the boys are having a ball swinging on a rope and jumping in the water. They enjoyed this day!

Rock pools, Mt Walsh and Biggenden
We went for a day trip towards Biggenden. Joining us were our friend Nathan and Tom's friend Josh. We left around 9.30 am. The rock pools are a well hidden place where rocks are formed in a way so they have different pools and waterfalls from one pool to another. It was good no one else was around and we had the place to ourselves.
We enjoyed cooling down in the pools, sliding from one to another, jumping of the rocks into the water. After a couple of hours we got hungry so we decided to drive to Mt Walsh to have our lunch there. Afterwards we drove to Biggenden where we stepped into a shop to have a coffee and a piece of cake. We were back home around 6 pm.

Rainbow Beach
It was a bit too windy to take the boat out, so we decided to spend the day at beautiful Rainbow Beach, about 1,5 hours drive from our home. After obtaining a permit to drive on the beach, we took the Freshwater track that leads towards the beach. After a short drive on the beach we settled in front of a dune. The boys climbed the dune and surfed down. It was a warm day so we went for a swim to cool down. We had some lunch and after a couple of hours we left. On our way back we stopped to have a look at Freshwater Lake, the first time we saw it with water in it. We drove all the way to Rainbow where we had dinner before we headed back home.
It was another fun Sunday in paradise.
