Private Health Insurance
Having medical problems in Australia can be a very expensive matter. Everyone has Medicare which gives you a rebate on the most common things, like a visit to the doctor or help in a public hospital. But it doesn't cover special treatments like private hospitals or optical or dental. For those things (and many other) you can take a private health insurance. A lot of people don't do this because it is rather expensive. That is also the reason we didn't have one. But with some big medical expenses expected in the near future on dental we decided it might be a good time to get an insurance. We went ahead with ahm as they waive most of the waiting periods and had the best deal for us.
